Virginia Bickel's newest book Come September  has just been released. Order it now!

In Virginia Bickel?s second book, she turns from historical fiction to mystery. Come September is the story of Daniel Lindsey?s quest to identify the young woman found unconscious in front of his store, and to find out what she was doing on Mesa Street, in El Paso, Texas.  She brings to this genre her skill with character development and dialogue. You won't be disappointed.

jan1.jpg (57152 bytes) Here are a couple of photographs of the greenhouses that were taken on the 12th of January 2001. Surprisingly for this time of the year there is still a lot of green on most of the plants. There have been some very hard frosts, but the natural gas heater that I use appears to be doing a good job of keeping the cold at bay.
jan2.jpg (57791 bytes) During the colder months of the year we need to be very careful with the watering of all plants. We are aiming to keep them as dry as possible without them getting dust dry. We must try not to get the foliage wet while watering, as this can lead to mildew forming on the leaves in the closed conditions of a greenhouse. The best way of doing this is to stand the pots in a shallow dish of water for approximately ten minutes.
