What a great surprise to find my old friend Tommy Toney playing Oliver Hardy in Milegdville GA! He and I used to act up and do comedy while bagging groceries,(more of the former than the latter). We even did Stan and Ollie routines, and studied all the old comedies. We also made two 8mm feature films while pretending to work at Ukrops Grocery in Southside Richmond, "Born to Bag" and it's horrifying sequel, "The House of Raunchfood",(a tale of horror and cyclamates).Tommy starred and I directed. The whole store got involved, some of the best time I've had making films.Tommy is a super talented guy who could have gone on to professional show biz as I did, but he was more interested in the quiet professional life of a college biology prof.He ended up in Milledgville living across the road from Lake Oliver Hardy. This, plus learning that Hardy often yearned for the professional life back in his hometown, led me to suspect Tom was the reincarnation of the great comedian come home at last. Now your website has at totally convinced me! Great site and thanks a lot.
Keith Van Allen
Alfie..:
He really does get into the part of Ollie. I've met him a few times at different events. Last time was when they opened a new section devoted to Oliver Hardy in the Old Capitol museum here in Milledgeville.

Looks like a neat place. I'll be back, I'm sure. When is the best time to prune fuchsias here in the UK? And, do we have to bring fuchsias that have been in containers indoors during the winter?

Loved all the albums!!! Especially enjoyed yours and Ann's FIRST ANNIVERSARY.
Your courtship and relationship progression is what SSF is all about. SFF should use you 2 as a story in their monthly E-Publication.
See you in St. Pete!!

Hi Alfie, I grew up in Savannah, GA and attended dances at GMC many times. Wondered if you and Ann ever went to the Reservoir for the submarine races.
Thanks for sharing the love story of Ann and Alfie. Delightful pictures.
ALso enjoyed the pictures from the various bashes.
Look forward to meeting you both at the ST. Pete bash. I won't know until the last minute if I will be able to go.
But in the meantime, see y'all online.

Hi, Good web site, plenty of ideas I've been growing fuchsias for close on 30 years and I'm still learning things about our favourite flower.
Keep up the good work,

Well put together site. Particularly like the section on the Dumbles. So many times have I walked there as a child from Spring Bank in Sutton, across the fields long built upon. Such a sad loss to the people of my generation and to those who never knew the idyllic beauty of such walks.
