Virginia Bickel's newest book Come September  has just been released. Order it now!

In Virginia Bickel?s second book, she turns from historical fiction to mystery. Come September is the story of Daniel Lindsey?s quest to identify the young woman found unconscious in front of his store, and to find out what she was doing on Mesa Street, in El Paso, Texas.  She brings to this genre her skill with character development and dialogue. You won't be disappointed.

feb2002a.jpg (48721 bytes) I took these photos on the 21st of February 2002 and it was a sunny day for a change. We've been having a lot of gloomy, grey days over here in the UK and it made a nice change to enjoy some sunshine. In this first picture, taken from the bottom of the garden, the plants can be seen through the glass. Though it looks like there are plenty of plants in there, I've unfortunately lost a lot of plants this winter. I went away for a month over Christmas and New Year and some of them were over-watered in my absence. This year I will need to take plenty of cuttings to replenish my stock
feb2002b.jpg (45308 bytes) This second photo was take from close to the house and is another view of the greenhouse which shows that the plants in there are still doing well. There are a lot of new, pink buds appearing on them now the days are getting longer, these herald this years growth. From now on I will lightly spray the old wood with tepid water, this fools the plants into thinking that spring has arrived and also softens the bark. After a few days of doing this, the plants will begin to show more buds. When this new growth is obvious I will remove some soil from the rootballs and move them into new potting compost.
