Virginia Bickel's newest book Come September  has just been released. Order it now!

In Virginia Bickel?s second book, she turns from historical fiction to mystery. Come September is the story of Daniel Lindsey?s quest to identify the young woman found unconscious in front of his store, and to find out what she was doing on Mesa Street, in El Paso, Texas.  She brings to this genre her skill with character development and dialogue. You won't be disappointed.

december1.jpg (64767 bytes) The new greenhouse was erected on Wednesday, the 22nd of November. Here's a photograph of it partially erected. The guy doing the job can be seen standing by the corner of the frame. It rained for three hours while he was working on it and he never stopped, even though he was soaked to the skin. That man really earned his wages.
december2.jpg (59174 bytes) A shot of the completed greenhouse taken later on the same day. This is really two greenhouses in one, there is a partition that divides it into two separate sections. This enables me to keep one section at a higher temperature for those plants that need the warmth, and the other section at a much lower temperature for the plants that prefer cooler conditions..
december3.jpg (67811 bytes) And here it is after I'd replaced some of the plants in it. Certainly look much better now than they did a few days ago. I've now got natural gas and power re-installed. The gas heater is running on a thermostat and will ignite when the temperature get within two degrees of freezing.
december4.jpg (75709 bytes) The second photo is taken inside the longer of the two greenhouses. Standing on the staging at the far end are the standard whips that are being grown on for next years show. They're losing a few leaves, but that is only natural at this time of year. They'll be kept ticking over until the days get a little longer in February/March.
