Virginia Bickel's
newest book
Come September has just been released. Order it now!
In Virginia Bickel’s second book, she turns from
historical fiction to mystery. Come September is the
story of Daniel Lindsey’s quest to identify the young
woman found unconscious in front of his store, and to
find out what she was doing on Mesa Street, in El
Paso, Texas. She brings to this genre her skill with
character development and dialogue. You won't be
disappointed.

This is a shot from against my kitchen door, looking down the garden, on
top of the fuel bunker are fuchsia, geranium and pelargonium plants.
Another picture taken from against my kitchen door looking down the
garden, over the onion plants towards the canes in the bean row. In the
foreground are the blue and white blooms of Jacob's Ladder, one of my
favourite garden flowers.
This photo of the flowers on my fuel bunkers, and Jim, my next door
neighbour, was taken from against my back gate looking westwards. The sun
is behind the house to the left of the shot. The bench, on which I love to
sit and watch the world go by, is to the left of the kitchen door.
A close-up of the vegetable garden that shows my onions and beans. All
of them are looking pretty good for the time of the year and I have high
hopes of a good crop. I also have carrots, swedes (rutebagas,) beetroot
and parsnips coming along nicely.
Another shot of the bean row, also showing my black compost accelerator
bin and some more pelargoniums on top of the cold frame. The garden that
can be seen through the iron fence has been neglected for years, a new guy
moved in recently and has made a start on getting it tidy again. He can be
seen by the back door.
The final shot shows rows of onions, swedes, carrots, beetroot and
parsnips. The ivy and honeysuckle covered building is my toolshed Standard
fuchsias can be seen standing against the doors, behind the green compost
accelerator. All my garden and kitchen waste goes into the two bins I
have.
